HFG – Connect to SSL VPN (User instructions)
Prerequisites:
- FortiClient is installed on user laptop or workstation.
- IT has added user to appropriate access groups.
Connect to the VPN:
- Double-click the “FortiClient VPN” icon on your desktop
- You can also double-click the blue FortiClient icon in the taskbar
- If you are opening the FortiClient for the first time, you might need to accept the end user license agreement. Check the checkbox then click "I accept".
- On the next screen, enter the following:
- Username: enter your Homes for good email address.
- Password: enter your Homes for Good email password.
- Click the blue SAML Login button.
- You should then receive a multi-factor authenticator prompt on your mobile device or authenticator app. Approve the prompt.
- FortiClient should now say “VPN Connected”. In the taskbar, the FortiClient icon will show a lock:
- You can now open files from the G:\ or U:\ drives.
Using HAB and FileVision
Once you are connected to the VPN, you need to connect to a terminal server to use HAB and FileVision. You don’t need to connect to HFG-RDS02 to view your email, browse the G:\ drive, etc.
- Double-click the “HFG-RDS02” shortcut on your desktop.
- If prompted by “How do you want to open this file?”, select Remote Desktop Connection then click Ok.
- If prompted by “Do you trust…?”, check “Don’t ask me again” then click Connect:
- Next, enter your computer logon username and password (ex. “bsmith”). If the wrong username is displayed, click “More choices” then “Use a different account”.
- Click OK
- When finished, click the Start button and sign out.
Finish your session
- If you are logged onto HFG-RDS02, go to the Start menu and sign out.
- Save and close all open files.
- Open the FortiClient window and click Disconnect.
- The FortiClient icon should return to a green checkbox with no lock:
