No more desk phones

That’s right, no more desk phones. The G12 phone system is 100% internet-based, so you can use a headset and your computer to make calls. Removing desk phones will give you more space on your desk, too.

Different desktop icon

You’ll use the “G12 Collaboration” app on your computer to make calls. The “Mitel Connect” app will be removed. The G12 Collaboration app will auto-start when you login to your computer, but you can also open it using the desktop shortcut:

Account setup

You will receive an email with your G12 login and a link to create a password. Please note this password as it is unique. Your login will be in the format <extension>@homesforgood.org. So if your extension is 2511, your G12 login (or username) is 2511@homesforgood.org.

Click the link in the email to create a new password. This is the password you’ll use to login to the G12 Collaboration app, the web portal, and the mobile app.

Changing your voicemail greeting

One of the first things you’ll want to do is record a voicemail greeting. Click the settings icon (gear/cog icon) and open the web portal. Go to Messages->Settings->Greetings and click the play button to record your voicemail greeting. Click Save when you’re finished.

Voicemail transcription, emails

By default, voicemails will be transcribed and arrive via email. The voicemail audio file will also be sent as an attachment so you can listen to the original voicemail. This is the recommended method to manage your voicemail.

Mobile apps

Apps are available for Android and iOS devices. The mobile apps behave exactly like the G12 Collaboration app on your computer. You can control simultaneous ring and other behavior via the web portal. Please contact IT if you need any help using the mobile apps on your agency device.

Web portal for more settings

The web portal controls many optional settings that you can review and set as-needed. You can record multiple voicemail greetings to use when you are out of the office, or modify answering rules if you are using an agency cell phone, and so on. Please contact IT via the IT helpdesk if you have any questions about these settings.

Workgroups

If you are a member of a workgroup (front desk reception, waitlist hotline, or work orders), you will access that function from the Portal button. Click Portal then click the Call Center button at the top. To start accepting workgroup calls, click the drop-down next to Offline and select “Go Online”. To sign out of the workgroup, select “Go Offline”.
